The list of top 20 highest direct payments includes some new names after last year’s table-toppers saw their payments fall by a combined €224,000.

The amount of money paid to farms in which Larry Goodman and members of his family are directors fell.

Branganstown Farms and Glydee Farms in Co Louth received payments of €218,578 and €194,662 respectively, down a combined €9,902 on last year.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Godolphin thoroughbred racing and breeding operation in Co Kildare got €200,530.91 in direct payments, an increase of €18,372 on the previous year.

Neither Coolmore nor John Magnier are listed by name in the CAP beneficiaries. However, John’s son Michael Vincent Magnier is listed as one of four directors in MacQuarie Ltd, which received direct payments of €75,151.

Dawn Meats co-founders John and Peter Quealley collected €199,119 for their farm near Tramore, Co Waterford, a drop of €15,889.

O’Shea Farms Ltd, the 1,500ac tillage and dairy farm in Piltown, Co Kilkenny, which had the highest payment last year, received €229,633, a reduction of almost €10,000.

Louis A McAuley, the company behind McAuley’s animal feeds in Co Meath, received €219,863 for its cereal and forage crop farm, a drop of over €14,000.

Greenhills Windfarm Limited, one of the largest dairy herds in the country owned by the Browne family, received a payment of €211,642.
